Weston before getting dressed for ring bearer duty (1 of 2) this past week...

Conversations of Husband and Wife
Wife: How do you like my new sandals?
Husband: (long, pondering pause)
Wife: You don't like them.
Husband: I don't NOT like them. I'm neutral.
Wife: I really like them and they're comfortable.
Husband: If you love them, I'm happy.
Wife: But I want you to think I'm pretty.
Husband: I can still think you're pretty without loving every pair of shoes you own.
Wife: Hmpf.

Shaw Nature Reserve
In April, we went to Shaw Nature Reserve for the first time and Papa came along with us. The place was so great we left with a Mobot family membership (thanks Dad!). We will be here A LOT this summer seeing as though the play area is almost 100% shaded, its beautiful everywhere and completely natural. And bonus that we can now go to Botanical Gardens and Butterfly house free and bring friends!

I love that Lily is a hidden onlooker. How could a little pip squeak like herself resist a tiny cubby to crawl in ?! |

Papa's "New" Boat
My dad is a notorious boat fixer-upper. Well, a fixer-upper of all types, but in particular boats. My junior year of high school he "retired" and bought, fixed up and re-sold over a dozen boats that first year of retirement. Then he went back to work. The boats were fewer. And then a few years ago he REALLY retired. So when he went to look at a used air conditioner and came home with a boat, it was both hilarious and unsurprising.

And I Quote...
Weston: Why do I have mosquito bites and Lily doesn't?
Me: Mosquitos like you. Ever since you were a baby you've gotten lots of mosquito bites. You're just sweet.
Weston: Well, when I grow up I'm going to be a mosquito shooter.

Cousins
My brother and his family moved to New Jersey last summer and we sure have missed them. They came through a few weeks ago and Weston and Lily were elated to play with their cousins. I never take enough pictures and, in fact, only have one from this last visit.

Muffled
Oh Man, this "Everyday May" might not have been a good idea. It's only day 2 and I already almost forgot.
This is a picture of Lily I took while at a stoplight in the car. We were on our way home from Trader Joe's and I heard this muffled moaning and looked back to see her like this...
I promise she did this to herself!! I wish I also had a picture of the week prior when we were coming home from a church event at night. She started yelling for help from the backseat and I looked back to find her with her name tag across her eyes. She is a funny little one...

Everyday May
I haven't been blogging as much this year. I'm not quite sure why. So as a little motivator, I'm setting a challenge before myself to do a blog post every day in the month of May. Some of it will be back blogging, but I'll need to get my camera out too! Of course today, May 1st, I'm exhausted at 8:00 p.m and will probably be studying the back of my eyelids in 20 minutes, but I had already committed to this in my mind, so couldn't skip Day1! This is a little fishing trip Weston took to the neighborhood lake a few weeks ago with Papa, the resident, semi-professional fisher...
I was just informed of a Fishing Derby that is going to be held at this lake for kids in a couple of weeks, so check back to see if this little fisherman has any success!
In case you can't see, that hat says "Walleye Assasin". Hilarious. |
