On the Seventh Day He Rested...

God rested after six days of creating everything. He must have been exhausted. He asks us to rest too. He knows we need it. Especially after six days of puking, pooping, cleaning puke, cleaning poop and various other things that added stress this past week. Many tears were shed...more by mama than the children. I am not good at resting, but today, I woke up to this...

...and I thought to myself, "Self, life is good, relax, simmer down (as my sister lovingly told me yesterday) and lighten up."

I am terrible at resting. I confess, laundry is still going today and I have my eye on the broom and mop, but the Lord has lifted the burden. A new perspective is gained when I place the life of this little household against the backdrop of the magnitude of God.

Lord, help me rest in Your Goodness.

Grampy and Grampy

Grammy and Grampy came to visit last weekend and met Lily for the first time. Weston talked about their upcoming arrival for a full 24 hours. In his excitement, he gets a little confused and calls them "Grampy and Grampy". We had a great time visiting with them. Weston loved playing with Blake and Brooke at Julie and Drew's house too. It's amazing how a house full of different toys can liven a child's spirit. We even got to see Donnie and Lisa and Whitney and Kevin on Sunday for lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant El Paisano. We look forward to getting up to Chicago to visit Grammy and Grampy again soon!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Lily was the only one who decided to break out her St. Patty's gear today. As we passed all of the traffic for the Dogtown parade, I couldn't help but laugh at our plans for the day. Weston scored some green beads at his haircut this morning and I had a Reuben sandwich with sauerkraut at the Dierberg's Kitchen afterward.

Oh man, I'm getting old.

Sleep

Sleep as defined by Webster is "the natural periodic suspension of consciousness during which the powers of the body are restored."

It will be nice when that reappears in our household again...
