J.T. and Carole

A couple of months ago we found out our good friends James and Carole were coming to town. That is Taylor and King, of course. Because we don't have quite as close of a friendship as we would like, we had to purchase some tickets to see them. It was a Happy Birthday Kurt, Happy Birthday Beth, Happy 5th Anniversary gift to ourselves. We've been anxiously awaiting the celebration since May.

So here we are at the concert...

And here they are putting on a fabulous show...

Afterward we invited them over for drinks and dessert. Somehow there was a miscommunication. Perhaps they forgot our address. Quite possibly they lost our phone number. Maybe next year.

Papa Summarized

If I could summarize my dad in a picture, this one just may be it.

Yes, you are correct, this is a hose with a dustpan assembled to the end to create a waterfall into the pool for Weston and his posse of animals. Please note the small piece of wood attached to the side. This was added last minute because the waterfall was not sufficiently level. Love it. Love it. And love it some more.

Happy Birthday America

This is the first year in a couple of years that we've had Independence Day plans. In fact, last year Kurt and I laid in bed and laughed at ourselves as we crabbed about people shooting off fireworks at 10 p.m. We felt really old.

So we we very excited when our friends invited us to their new house for a BBQ and fireworks at Kirkwood Park. This was Weston's first firework experience and he LOVED it. He gave a running commentary throughout the show: "A green one!" "A waterfall!" "The fireworks are falling on my face!" "Who's making the fireworks?" It made it that much more entertaining to see him discover it for the first time. Lily slept back at the house (a few stayed back), but I don't think she would have appreciated the booms bothering her beauty sleep anyway.

Sparklerin' it up...

On our way to the show with Weston's buddy "Yim Yim"

A blurry picture of us enjoying the show...

And I Quote...

I've decided to add a special section of the blog dedicated to noteworthy things that are spoken in our household. There are just too many funny things being said around here and I don't want to forget them 10 years from now...or, for me, probably tomorrow. Most of them will probably be from the mouth of Weston, but KB can have some doozies and hopefully Lily will dropping some good one liners in a year or so. The posts will all be titled "And I quote..."

So to begin, Weston a couple nights ago was picking at a hang nail on his toe and called it a little mix of hang nail and toe nail. "Oooh, dats a hoe nail". He again referred to a hoe nail the next day on his finger. Apparently he needs a mani/pedi.
